CORGI which has been the legal body overseeing the safety of gas installations since 1991 is being replaced on 1 April 2009 by Capita Group and a new brand called the Gas Safe Register
CORGI goes.
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) which is responsible for regulating gas safety in Great Britain has awarded the contract to run the new gas installer registration scheme to Capita Group from 1 April 2009. From this date Gas Safe Register™ will be the official stamp for gas safety in Great Britain, replacing the well known CORGI brand.
It will be a legal requirement for any engineer planning to undertake gas work in Great Britain after 1 April 2009 to be registered with Gas Safe Register™. All existing CORGI registered businesses will need to have transferred their registration to the Gas Safe Register™ by 1 April.
