ATL launch new “Get Into Building Services” initiative with Prince’s Trust
In partnership with the Prince’s Trust ATL have launched a new initiative called ‘Get Into Building Services’, designed to provide young people, especially those who have struggled at school, are in or are leaving care, are long term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law, with an opportunity to enter the Building Services sector.
The plan is to give upwards of 100 young people a year with the chance to train and become a fully qualified plumber or electrician. The training is free to the young people. The Prince’s Trust find and interview interested youngsters, covering their travel expenses and childcare costs, while ATL cover the cost of training.
Talking about the initiative, Nick Hayward, MD of ATL says “We are delighted to be working with The Prince’s Trust and are very excited about this new initiative. ‘Get into Building Services' will give young people valuable experience of professional and technical training in plumbing and electrical installation and maintenance.”
“Those young people who successfully complete the three-week ‘Get into’ course will be better able to make informed choices about their future. Those who believe the construction industry is right for them will then be offered a free place on one of our plumbing or electrical careers courses leading to an NVQ at level 2 or 3. This will give them a very good chance of a career for life in building services.”
