ACS Combustion Performance Analysis of Domestic Appliances (CPA1) initial training and assessment
CITB certificated
Concerns regarding Carbon Monoxide Poisoning incidents in the UK have led the Government to legislate that all Gas Engineers must be certified in CO/CO2 detection and understand the correct and safe use of a flue gas analyser by 2009.
Description
With the advent of high-efficiency condensing boilers and flueless fires, many manufacturers demand the use of a flue gas analyser to complete commissioning, servicing and/or repair. A flue gas analyser is also a useful tool to assist in the testing of all domestic gas appliances. CPA1 is an ACS assessment and training course for the knowledge and understanding of the combustion process. It is an essential course and certificate for any professional heating engineer wishing to commission or maintain modern day appliances. BS 7967: Parts 1-4 outlines the permissible level of CO over a given period of time, the use of a flue gas analyser manufactured to BS 7927: 1998 states how to interpret the readings and how to understand CO/Co2 ratio when servicing an appliance. BS 5871: Part 4 outlines the need for a combustion test to be carried out during maintenance or checks for safety. It also discusses that the above shall be in accordance with the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and in the absence of those instructions that you need to refer to BS 7967: Part 2.
Who it’s for
Gas engineers who use combustion analysis as part of the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintaining of a gas appliance as listed in BS 7967 Part 3 2005 Guide for responding to measurements obtained from flue gas analysers.
Entry Requirements
