ACS domestic appliances initial training and/or assessment

WAT1 - Water heaters
DAH1 – Ducted warm air heaters
MET1 – Gas meters

Description

In addition to a CCN1 domestic core gas safety certificate, all operatives and heating engineers who install, commission and repair domestic gas appliances must hold relevant ACS qualifications for each appliance and service they intend to work on. ACS certificates need to be renewed every five years. The aim of this course is to provide gas operatives with their initial gas appliance certificates making them eligible for CORGI (Gas Safety Register from April 2009) registration. The course is in two sections. The training section, which will familiarise candidates with the peculiarities of each appliance and specific manufacturer instructions related to gas safety regulations, will prepare individuals to confidently complete the appliances assessments. The assessment section involves the candidate undertaking a series of practical checks to a standard that confirms competence in carrying out work safely.

Please Note : that the training section of these courses is not compulsory. Candidates can elect to go for assessment only. In practice however only an extremely small number of candidates take this route as ACS accreditation involves rigorous assessments. We strongly recommend you attend the training component which immediately precedes the assessment.
