Copper Tube & Plastic Pipe-Work Installation
Including the City & Guilds 6022-02 qualification

An ideal starting point and introductory qualification for individuals wishing to enhance their knowledge and plumbing practical ability, and prove competence in the area of domestic pipe-work.

Description

This hands-on practical course includes; the preparation, design and selection of materials. Cutting, bending, positioning, connections, capillary, compression, push fit and pressure testing of copper and plastic tube. It has been designed to enable new and experienced installers to prove competence in the areas of selection, design and installation of copper and plastic tubing for domestic plumbing and heating systems. This is a ‘hands-on’ practical course and is assessed by way of candidates completing a series of pre-defined practical tests as well as an open book examination. In addition to the requirements of the C&G 6022 qualification, the course includes working with plastic pipe-work and fittings and candidates will get to carry out a copper pipe-work first fix bathroom installation, connected to and tested by a mains pressure water supply. This is the acid-test of a candidate’s true skill!

Please Note: Achievement of the 6022-02 on its own will not qualify the holder as a plumber. This course should be viewed as a foundation and should not be considered an end result unless individuals are solely seeking to work on or with domestic copper pipe-work.

Who it’s for

This course is designed for people wishing to gain a formal plumbing qualification before progressing towards an NVQ. Those that would benefit from this qualification include:

  • Individuals wishing to formally prove competence in the area of domestic pipe-work.
