Our world is changing – we need more skills than ever before. Two out of three jobs in the future will require a high level of skills. In fact, in less than 10 years, there will be very few unskilled jobs. Learning a skill or gaining qualifications is an essential step in finding a job, avoiding unemployment, moving up the career ladder and earning a decent wage. It’s also a great way to improve your confidence and self-esteem.
These days, everyone needs a minimum set of qualifications and skills to get on in life. The good news is there have never been so many ways to learn. If pure academic achievement isn’t for you, and let’s be honest it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, then there are other opportunities. There are vocational qualifications, called NVQs which are skills based and if you’ve got one of these then you’re well on the way to taking control of your future. A level 2 NVQ is equivalent to five good GCSEs and a level 3 NVQ is equivalent to 2 A Levels! So with an NVQ under your belt, you’ll have more choices, are more likely to be better paid, your boss is more likely to invest in you and you’re less likely to be unemployed throughout your life.
