The eight principles of protection.
The college is bound by the Data Protection Act 1998 and its eight principles which requires that data must be: fairly and lawfully processed; processed for limited purposes; adequate, relevant and not excessive; accurate; not kept longer than necessary; processed in accordance with data subject’s rights; secure, and; not transferred to countries lacking adequate protection.
The college collects and stores information about you for administrative purposes connected with your studies and to design, plan and manage your training programme, as well as ensuring compliance with legal obligations to funding bodies and government.
With the exception of various awarding and statutory bodies* we will not pass any personal information to a third party unless we have your permission, or we are required by law to do so. You are entitled to see any of the personal information that we hold about you. Please ask us at any time to see your personal records. We may need 7 days notice to prepare this and there may be a small charge.
* An awarding body is an organization approved by a recognised agency for the purpose of registering and certificating learners’ achievement. A statutory body is an organisation which has been established by statute (law) and has the full backing of Parliament
