Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP)
BPEC Certificated and a GSHP Association and government grants approved course

A short course developed and certificated by BPEC for those who want become involved in the design and installation of ground source heat pump systems.

Description

This course combining practical and theory training will give participants the knowledge and skills to advise on, design, install, maintain and service ground source heat pump systems.

Ground source heat pumps provide a new and clean way of heating buildings, providing one of the most energy-efficient ways of heating buildings. They make use of heat energy stored in the ground and boost this up to more usable temperatures. The technology has improved vastly in recent years and heat pumps are growing hugely in popularity due to their reliability, cost and energy savings. They use electricity but usually produce 3 to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity. They cost less to install and run than a traditional heating system and generally there are no planning issues with this technology, since it isn’t visible once installed. For domestic properties a grant of up to £1,200 is usually available through the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, adding to their attraction by householders.

Who it’s for
