Before you embark on a new career, or a two to three year apprenticeship it’s really important that you’re sure this is what you want to do, and that it’s right for you too.
Reading the following guides, should help. They will give you an idea what the jobs are about, the skills you will need, the opportunities to specialise and for progression, and what you could expect to earn. But there’s also Kudos.
Kudos is an online careers matching programme, designed to help you identify the right career for YOU! Although principally aimed at young people, it is just as appropriate for adults thinking of a new career.
It contains information on more than 1,700 careers, updated 3 times a year. When you take Kudos you are asked questions about your likes and dislikes, the level of career you’re interested in, and your health. It will then match you to careers, suggesting ones that may be suitable for you based on your answers.
It uses a common sense approach: if you like certain aspects of work that make up a career then it is more likely to be suitable and it will be recommended to you. If there are things you don’t like to do in a career, then it won’t be suggested to you. All you need to do is answer the questions honestly and you should find jobs that will suit you and in which you will succeed, prosper and be happy.
