Power Flushing
The technique of cleaning and descaling central heating systems

Power Flushing is the process by which heating systems are forcibly cleansed using water at high velocity, but low pressure, so that no physical damage is caused to the system.

Description

There is a growing demand for Power Flushing services, not only from new boiler installations, where it is often vital that flushing is carried out in order to validate the boiler warranty, but also from existing heating systems that need to be cleaned so they will operate correctly and efficiently. The objective is to restore systems with circulation and boiler noise problems (caused by sludge and corrosion deposits) to optimum operation. Power flushing removes these deposits and the problems that they cause. Most heating systems in the UK have not been flushed on a regular basis, many of have cool radiators and non-functioning TRV’s due to the build up of sediments. Research also shows that a great many systems have never been treated with corrosion inhibitors, so there is a lot of potential work out there!

This 1 day course with a complete, self contained heating system on which the correct procedures are demonstrated focuses on developing a good working knowledge of the theory behind Power Flushing, why it is import to clean systems and ensure that they comply with BS7593. Candidates are taught how to operate specialist equipment and use chemicals to achieve the correct pH level for optimum performance of central heating systems. The types of system covered include vented, sealed, combi boiler, microbore, gravity hot water, single-pipe, single-feed cylinders and thermal stores.
