Rainwater Harvesting
BPEC Certificated
A short course combining practical and theory training developed and certificated by BPEC for those who want to be able to advise on, install, maintain and service direct and indirect rainwater harvesting water systems.
Description
The average household water bill has increased 39.1% since 1989. With the cost of utilities escalating, combined with the public’s concern about the environment, householders are seeking alternatives to traditional methods of water useage. Over half of the water used by householders does not need to be of drinking quality and can be substituted for rainwater. The roof on an average 4-bed family home captures more than 100,000 litres of rainwater each year, easily sufficient for a typical family which uses just 70,000 litres of water each year on toilet flushing, clothes washing and outside use. It is because of this and a payback period as quick as 3 years that rainwater harvesting in the UK has increased by approximately 300% in the last two years.
This course carrying nationally recognised certification covers the collection, storage and use of rainwater for such activities as domestic clothes washing, toilets and outside use and will enable candidates to advise on and select the most appropriate rainwater harvesting system for householders, plus install, maintain and service any of the common types of rainwater harvesting system generally used in the UK.
