The UK needs skilled workers. So if you’re thinking of retraining to become a Building Services professional your chances of getting regular work and having a career for life are very good indeed. Once qualified you will be able to choose between working for a contracting firm, becoming self-employed – or both!
As an adult you have a number of avenues open to you for training, however it is essential that you follow a properly prescribed course. One that contains all the knowledge and skills you need to do the job properly and safely and which includes all the lawful qualifications too. Also, beware training companies offering you careers courses that do not include the industry’s recommended entry-level qualification (usually a level 2 or level 3 NVQ/Diploma). You will not have the same recognition as a qualified engineer and you may find it more difficult to get a job. Even working towards a NVQ/Diploma is better than not doing one at all. You may even run the risk of having to repeat your training should Government regulations change – which they may.
You’ll be reassured to know, all ATL career courses satisfy these requirements.
Before you choose a course we recommend you read our guide ‘Get into Building Services’. This contains all the essential information you need to know about getting trained and becoming a qualified Building Services Professional. Once you’ve read it choose the trade and course that suits you best.

What our clients say:
I was initially introduced to ATL in 2010 and was immediately impressed by their willingness to work with us as a partner. The team has fully engaged with us throughout the development of our Apprenticeship framework and whilst it has not always been a straightforward process it has felt all the way along that we are one team with a single vision and a passion to succeed. ATL and Trend work in a true partnership and with our shared values and drive for continuous improvement I foresee a long and fruitful relationship for both companies.
