Description
Since the introduction of the Building Regulations 1985 and the Water Regulations 1999 anybody servicing, commissioning or installing unvented hot water storage systems has a legislative requirement to have successfully completed a recognised training and assessment program. There is also a requirement for “appreciation” training for those whose work involves the specification, inspection or supervision of the installation of such systems. The assessment process requires candidates to demonstrate theoretical knowledge and their practical competence to install, service and maintain these systems. And under new guidelines this competence has to be proven every five years.
Who it’s for
Anybody involved in servicing, commissioning or installing unvented hot water storage systems and those who specify, inspect or supervise the installation of such systems. This qualification is also a pre-requisite for anyone wishing to install, service or maintain domestic solar hot water heating systems.
Entry Requirements
None. But entrants are expected to have a plumbing or heating and ventilating background.

Outcomes
Having successfully completed the course you will be deemed legally competent to work on domestic unvented hot water storage systems and will receive a CITB record of achievement card and will also be entered on the CITB published register of operatives as defined in the BBA MOAT 38: 1986.
