Welcome from the MD

You could have a career for life by studying at ATL. A career where your ambition and potential are harnessed to give you an important edge in the world of building services.

I hope that you will find this website helpful and informative. It describes what it is like to learn at ATL, what careers and courses are available in Building Services and how to apply. However, the best way to find out ‘what ATL is really like’ is to visit. Twice a year in spring and in summer we hold an open day across the whole college. By prior appointment you can also arrange a visit at any of our centres and a discussion with the faculty staff.

We are unique among specialist building services training providers in that we train school children aged 14-16 taking diplomas, young people aged 16-25 on government funded Apprenticeships, adult career changers plus professional trades people already working in the industry. This gives us a unique insight into what those wanting to enter the industry aspire to, plus what employers really want, ensuring that your experience and training leads to employability and success in the industry.

Those who come to ATL discover a renowned vocational college whose faculty and staff are drawn from throughout the UK and are at the top of their field. Founded in 1992, ATL is firmly established as one of Britain’s leading training providers in Building Services. We are very highly regarded for the quality of our training and for a dynamic and stimulating environment for our teaching, which has received strong positive endorsement from a range of independent industry assessors.

The college has large training centres, enabling it to offer a very comprehensive range of careers and subject programmes taught by a distinguished staff. Our course structures are flexible; some allow you to defer elements while you gain work experience, whereas others offer intensive professional training from the start. Full-time, part time, tutor-led, distance learning or a blend of home and tutor-led study options means there is a solution for everyone, whatever their situation and need. Library and computing facilities exist at all centres and our student support services are excellent.

I believe that ATL is an outstanding college at which to learn and qualify – an opinion shared by the 3,000 plus students who train and qualify with us each year.
